Mario Lemieux was in his second big league season when his rookie cards were discovered in O-Pee-Chee packs, with the example that headlines this appealing 1985-86 assembly encapsulated and graded NM+ 7.5 by SGC. Light wear at three corners is only detectable when viewing the back of card #9, with a little less than perfect/smooth right edge also observed, up near the corner. The accompanying cards, after a creased and to be replaced #1-McDonald card include mostly sharp NM-or-better contributors, with dozens and dozens of NM-MT-or-better representatives to come across. The first 30 cards however have a light ding at the bottom right corner to be aware of, while a NM+ Al MacInnis RC highlights the key cards. Wayne Gretzky’s regular #120 issue (NM) and Mario’s Rookie Scoring Leaders card (NM+) have slight diamond cuts, as does 29-Yzerman, the latter shy of NM due to a (left) edge ding, with a slight curvature throughout the set. Second-year cards of Gilmour, Neely and Chelios contribute, as do three Gretzky specials and a Pelle Lindbergh memorial entry. A swell bonus are the 33 sticker inserts (a complete set) that were available that season in Topps packs.
