Pulled from a Topps wax pack during Ken Dryden’s first full NHL season was this attractive 1971-72 rookie card of the “instant hero” of the previous campaign’s playoffs, like the back of card #45 informs. Big Ken played in six games down the stretch in ’70-71 and then backstopped the Canadiens throughout the playoffs, playing in a record 20 games, with the Habs claiming Lord Stanley’s silverware following series wins over the record-breaking Bruins, the North Stars and the Blackhawks and Dryden winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. KSA graded this perfectly-centered example a lofty 8.5 NMM+, with a light touch to the top right corner visible. A classic and thought-provoking image awaits your Dryden/RC collection, with no noticeable scratches/scuffs to the KSA holder to report.
