A dazzling roster of past and then-present Canadiens and Maple Leafs stars and supporting cast members has always had collectors fond of Parkhurst’s 1955-56 issue, with Jacques Plante’s all-important rookie card headlining this gathering. Light corner touches denied the pleasing specimen an even higher mark, with KSA’s “6 ENM” grade appearing on the label. The cards of fellow legends Rocket Richard, Jean Beliveau and Howie Morenz are the three cards not present, with that of Doug Harvey slabbed 5 EX and Turk Broda’s Oldtime Great entry at 3 VG. We can tell of rather uniform and attractive mostly crease-free condition among the raw rest, with some 40 cards mirroring or in the vicinity of the Harvey example, with VG-EX, VG-EX+ and EX+ examples among them. Included in the group are Geoffrion (VG-EX+), goaltending greats Vezina, Hainsworth and Durnan, most of the action cards and 78-The Montreal Forum (EX). We spot but four creased entries; 1-Lumley (F), 39-Mosdell, 68-Selke and 79-Maple Leaf Gardens, the latter just one of two cards, (22-Jackson OTG is the other) with classic Parkie staining on the back and otherwise VG+. All other backs are problem-free, while wax stains on the front affect 17 cards, the most notables being 3-Horton, 4-Armstrong, 30-Bailey OTG, 33-Clancy, 58-Joliat OTG, 67-Blake and 71-Plante Is Protected. All in all, an attractive mid-grade offering appearing to have been pieced together back in the day is what you can anticipate being delivered.
