A great grouping of hard to find vintage one-piece sticks totaling four is offered, highlighted by a rarely-seen pair from Star sticks and McVean of Dresden Ont. All adult size models from the 1920s/30s, the McVean stick is a “Professional” model from approx the 1930s with stamped shaft and partially-intact red striping accent, with tape over the handle, an additional piece of masking tape was added to the shaft with “McVean Hockey Sticks” handwritten. The stick shows moderate use with a hairline crack on one side of the blade at the toe (the stick remains completely solid), with a hole drilled over the lower shaft, likely to mount the stick. The Star model hails from the 1920s, or possibly slightly earlier, with “Star” stamped to the blade in script, with heavy tape over the upper shaft. The stick shows heavy use with cracks to the blade and loss to the underside, with a piece of tape with “Star” handwritten affixed to the lower shaft, along with a metal plate nailed on that has the name “Carl Copeland” in raised letters. The third stick was probably made by Hespeler and sports “Collegiate” stamped to the one-piece blade, with a bit of tape remaining over the blade, lower shaft and knob, with heavier use shown including a crack to the blade. The final stick was likely made by Lovell and has “School” stamped to the blade, with “Kane High” carved into the stick preceding the stamp (done to read “Kane High School”), with “Dan” also attractively carved into both sides of the shaft. There is tape over the blade, lower shaft and knob, with heavy use shown including a few cracks to the blade.
