Ultra-fascinating attention-grabbers are these 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee posters, remarkably still in uncut sheet form – hard to believe! Two posters came attached and folded in 10-cent wax packs back in the day, with the thin fragile paper affairs not frequently found still attached, never mind four posters still attached like they were before being cut at the factory. Three sheets trump the others, in our opinion, in terms of star power, with Hall of Famers Perreault, Plante, Dryden and Worsley featured on one, Orr, Phil Esposito, Unger and the (’70-71 Stanley Cup champion) Canadiens team on another and then Lafleur, Tony O, Hull and Kurtenbach on a third. Other combinations are Berenson-Pulford-Keon-Ullman, Horton-Gamble-McKechnie-Ratelle and Tallon-Martin-Cournoyer-Gilbert. The latter foursome features tears and missing pieces but the others have survived rather well, with not many unsightly flaws. They include fold lines across the middle of each sheet (approximately 23-1/2” x 36-1/2”) and then horizontal fold lines through the middle of each poster. There’s usually a small hole or two smack dab in the middle of each sheet but only minimal edge tears. A swell bonus is a duplicate poster involving Keon and Ullman. Check them all out and decide if you will be the new owner of these killer rarities.
