Banking on the success of the film, Marvel Comics issued Star Wars in the summer of 1977 as a six-issue comic adaptation that ran for 107 issues, with a self-titled comic strip also appearing contemporarily in newspapers from 1979 to 1984. This desirable issue of Star Wars #1 has been further augmented by the signatures of Stan Lee and artists/writers Tom Palmer, Howard Chaykin and Roy Thomas. Hailing from CGC’s “Signature Series”, where collectors can have their comic books, magazines, posters and prints signed by artists and creators in the presence of a CGC representative, the authenticity of the signature is then 100% certain, making the collectible eligible for the iconic CGC Signature Series yellow label. This specimen from the series has been graded 5.5 by CGC (Off-White Pages). Signed in 2016 according to the CGC label, Palmer has signed the cover in silver ink, the other three in black marker, with the signatures displaying nicely and the comic commensurate with the given grade. This example is ideal for any Marvel, Stan Lee of Star Wars collector.
