Cards anyone? That is to say, a card game is involved in a Post Cereal promotion here, with a salesman’s sample box starring Mike Bossy on the box top and more familiar 1982-83 Post mini-cards among the items inside. The small cards are still in their original (unseparated) panel form, with all 21 teams of the day present and Wayne Gretzky and the Oilers leading the lineup. There are also six similar but oversized cards, (Gainey, Hawerchuk, Anderson, Vaive, Nilsson, Cloutier), representing the Canadian teams at the time, with the backs featuring ads to get store owners keen on stocking Post Alpha-Bits, Honeycomb and Suger Crisp cereal. An unopened deck of standard-size playing cards with the Post logo, a smiling image of Bossy and a team set of (separated) Islanders cards complete the contents which are without notable condition issues. The box, as you can see, is another story, with creases, stains, a piece of scotch tape and a piercing all to note. Meanwhile, Patrick Roy is featured on the box of a Champions Hockey Card Collector Starter Kit, with a card signed by Patrick a possibility upon opening. The “for sure” items include ’91-92 Pro Set hockey cards, a binder to store cards and a booklet about collecting cards (both with an image of Patrick’s Canadiens mask), 9-pocket pages, a Beckett price guide and more, with the box then capable of holding some 2000 cards. A couple of tears to the cello wrap (to the left of Roy on the box top) are to be aware of.
