Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Although there are (minimal) condition exceptions, plenty of pleasing high grade material is what you can expect if you’re the winning bidder here, with two binders, home to three O-Pee-Chee issues, comprised of hundreds of NM-or-better cards. Sharp 1981-82 OPCs lead the chronological order, with rookie cards of Paul Coffey (NM+) and Jari Kurri (NM) joined by similar (or higher) RCs of Savard, Moog, Murphy, Stastny, Ciccarelli and others, along with #1-Bourque and multiple different Gretzky cards. Less-than-perfect centering is at times observed but the set looks to have been barely handled. A group of ’82-83s is missing a dozen cards but all the keys are present, with well-centered Grant Fuhr and Ron Francis RCs (both NM-MT) headlining the allure, although a crease and corner/edge dings affect a Dale Hawerchuk rookie. Steve Yzerman’s ’84-85 RC is another condition exception, with a couple of corner touches and pushed edges (more noticeable is the left edge) to be aware of – we’ll refrain from assigning a grade, but Gilmour, Neely, Chelios and LaFontaine RCs are all at least NM. Checklists throughout are sharp and unmarked, with the missing cards from ’82-83 being #s 6, 7-Bourque, 59, 185, 210-Potvin, 230, 242-Gretzky LL, 251, 261-Checklist, 276, 359 and 392.
