Over 100 years ago, lacrosse was Canada's national sport when ice hockey was comparatively relatively new, with standout hockey player Joe Malone, along with others, also taking part in what now is Canada's official national summer sport. This Malone card, picturing the Quebec City native in the uniform of the "National de Quebec" was actually issued a year before Joe's official C55 hockey rookie card and was inspected by SGC, the company slabbing card #84 GOOD 2. A light vertical crease through the turtleneck sweater and up through the legend's mouth/nose/forehead is observed, along with edge wear and rounded corners. Still with classic vibrant colors, the card is deserving of contemplation, with some light scratches/scuffs to the SGC holder also noteworthy. We wish there were lacrosse records available from the day - it would be interesting to know to what degree Malone excelled in the sport.
