A grab bag of vintage hockey pictures offered here is good for those of you not concerned with condition, since overall, this years-in-the-making stash includes several condition issues. Some six dozen Bee Hive Group 1 photos are lower grade, with most photos either re-glued to backings or with glue securing the bottom portion of the photos to the backings. Eight New York American subjects are noteworthy but no real scarce examples are to be discovered, with the Maple Leafs (23) the most plentiful. Overall, eye-appeal increases with the Group 2 representatives (60+) but many have boys’ names written on the back, although pictures are not affixed at the “bottom.” Over four dozen Group 3 entries contribute, with condition improving, but again, no “toughies” are present. We count 30 Crown Brand-like pictures which were trimmed to resemble Bee Hives. Pictures were trimmed and then glued to trimmed Crown Brand backings, with Canadiens and Maroons players featured most often and also appearing in five group shots. Two Canadiens squads (1935-36 and ’36-37) appear on their original backings, with a loose (torn) picture featuring the ’37-38 Habs. Maroons teams are from ’34-35 and ’37-38 and display decently. Gorgeous color photographs taken by Harold Barkley star in (57) Toronto Star “Stars in Action” pictures from ’63-64, with duplication to note, along with moderate handling and wear. Swell bonuses are a dozen Bee Hive-style pictures of World War II warplanes, with ships and planes featured on eight Crown Brand productions, also from the 1940s. Images galore and plenty of entertaining perusing awaits you if you’re the high bidder here.
