Doubling team scoring with the major rule change that now allowed forward passing in the offensive zone, the Montreal Canadiens concluded the 1929-30 NHL season tied in second place with the city’s anglophone competitor Montreal Maroons. Defeating the Black Hawks and Rangers in the postseason, the Habs would go undefeated against Beantown and take out the Bruins in a best-of-three final to claim the franchise’s third Stanley Cup championship. This rare original framed panoramic team photo features the 1929-30 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. At approx 7” x 27”, the period print depicts the full club lined-up with their iconic Habs team crests on full display, including Howie Morenz, Aurel Joliat, George Hainsworth, Pit Lepine and others, with “To Red from Pete” over the bottom right corner. Set in what is likely the original 8 ½” x 28 ½” frame that exhibits wear, there is a bit of minor toning and warping to the photo, and it displays wonderfully overall.
