One the eve of being just the second team in NHL history to be crowned consecutive Stanley Cup champions, the Montreal Canadiens skated to a first-place finish at the conclusion of the 1928-29 NHL season, with Howie Morenz ranking fourth in league scoring. Receiving a bye for the Quarterfinals, the Habs were defeated by Eddie Shore and the Boston Bruins in the Semifinals. This rare original framed panoramic team photo features the 1928-29 Montreal Canadiens. At approx 9” x 13” and framed to slightly larger dimensions, the period print depicts the entire club and management posed outside what is presumably the Montreal Forum, with Howie Morenz, Herb Gardiner, Aurel Joliat, George Hainsworth, Sylvio Mantha, Pit Lepine and others all lined up in their Habs finery. Exhibiting a few large creases including an example near the top center that breaks the surface, there is also some toning and minor warping to the print. Despite this, the image presents wonderfully overall and would serve as an advanced piece for any vintage Canadiens or hockey photography collection.
