Current Stanley Cup champions when the first puck was dropped to christen the 1930-31 NHL season, the Montreal Canadiens finished second behind Boston during the regular season. Receiving a bye for the Quarterfinals, the Habs defeated those big, bad Bruins in the Semifinals before taking out the Chicago Black Hawks to claim Lord Stanley’s grail. This rare framed panoramic team print features the 1930-31 Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens. At approx 6” x 30”, the period print produced by noted lensman Rice from his team-signed original photograph depicts the entire club and management posed including Howie Morenz, Aurel Joliat, George Hainsworth, Sylvio Mantha, Pit Lepine and others all lined up in their wool Habs sweaters, with their facsimile signatures beneath. The photo is attached to a backing, with this visible along some edges, with just light wear to the image. Set in a vintage 10 ½” x 34 ½” frame showing minor wear, the print was possibly displayed in an office or arena setting, as the frame sports screw holes through each side, a tell-tale sign of commercial use.
