One can tell that this neat little collection comes from a guy who opened some O-Pee-Chee hockey card packs back in the day and years later pulled the cards out and inserted them into 9-pocket pages. They’re grouped by team, with the original inserts also present. We count 56 cards from 1970-71 which overall exhibit more handling than the 130 from ’71-72. A side-to-side crease renders a Bobby Clarke no better than VG, with Orr and Tony Esposito Trophy Winner cards similar, 233-Esposito line at VG+ and a Gilbert Perreault RC really beat up. Expect some crease-free VG-EX examples among the commoners, with a crease-free Jean Ratelle Deckle Edge insert best among five (with the others creased). Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne rookie cards highlights the ’71-72s and we’d at first glance say EX or very close to it for both due to corner touches/light dings, but soiling/scuffing to the back of the Lafleur further lowers it. Two Orr specials are VG and Gordie Howe’s special card is a multi-creased low grade entry but some VG-EX to EX stars and secondary RCs are present, as well as 10 EX-ish (English) booklets (Howe, P. Esposito) and four team crest inserts. Tossed in are two dozen ’71 CFL cards, Sportcaster cards of Orr and Bjorn Borg (both with a crease) and a dozen early Expos team-issued color postcards, most of them crease-free with not-drastic corner wear. Some relatively cheap fun and a swell trip back in time is what you’re in for here.
