The men who returned from Moscow to a hero’s welcome following their dramatic come-from-behind win in the 1972 Canada-Russia Series were featured in a ’72-73 O-Pee-Chee insert set, with a full 28-card ensemble headlining this lot. Not many creased examples are to report (Clarke, Phil Esposito), with VG to EX being the range, although only a couple are without a notorious factory surface flaw or two (little prick-like marks). A miscut Dryden card is also to note. A poster with an artist’s rendition of the ’72 USSR National Team (approximately 24” by 36”) is much more difficult to locate than its Canadian counterpart and presents well, with not-drastic creasing, while a classic Twenty-seven days in September softcover book is loaded with photos/stories/summaries of the epic showdown. Meanwhile, the ’74 Canada-Russia Series is represented by a game program (VG with no unsightly flaws) and a Summit 74 book by Dick Beddoes and John Roberts. The two books have survived in attractive condition with no cover creases. There are also six duplicate Team Canada inserts; Bergman, Mikita, Park, Perreault, Redmond and White.
