It was during the 1962-63 season and inside packs of blue-bordered Topps hockey cards that these “bucks” were inserted, one a pack, with numerous bucks surely required to be forked over to acquire this batch, with only an Andy Bathgate example required for completion. The scarce inserts curiously resemble Canadian dollar bills back in the day, with hockey players’ heads taking the place of Queen Elizabeth’s and their facsimile signatures a nifty touch. At a little over 4" in length, they had to be folded to fit into the packs, so most have a fold line visible near the left edge of the player's image. We've divided them into two distinctive groups; one nicer and one with notable condition issues. The better dozen are not necessarily high grade but are without unsightly creases/flaws and include, in alphabetical order, Balon, Bucyk, Green, Hall (toning), Hebenton, Howell Langlois, Mikita, Mohns (Bruce Gamble is actually pictured), Oliver, Prentice and Toppazzini. The other eleven include seven with rippling/waviness and/or a crease, with a tiny edge nick also affecting the Bobby Hull bill and the others being Boivin, Fleming, Godfrey, Hay, McDonald and Pilote. Four low grade examples are Ingarfield (staining), McKenney (multiple creases), Vasko (toning) and Worsley, the latter two with glue residue on their backs. Check them all out and decide if your bucks will be taking home these bucks.
