Featuring Division I All-Americans John Madden, Brendan Morrison, and Marty Turco, and led by longtime collegiate skipper Red Berenson, the Michigan Wolverines won the CCHA regular-season championship in 1996-97 as well as the CCHA Tournament before losing in the National Semifinal to Boston University. This 10K gold ring was presented to Berenson for the Wolverines status as CCHA regular-season champions. Size 11 ½ with an approx weight of 28 grams, a gold-coloured Michigan “M” sits over the tableau, with “CCHA” above and “Champions” below, spaced by four inserted zirconias along with “1997”. The right shank sports a detailed wolverine with “Berenson” above and “Coach” below, while the left features the CCHA logo with “Michigan” above and the school’s season record of "35-4-4" below. The inner band is stamped “Jostens 10K”, with engraved text that includes “Accept the Challenge”, “CCHA”, and “CCHA Play Off”. Showing heavy wear from use, the outer band is covered in scratches and surface marks, with a number of small dings visible, including along edges. A signed LOA from Red Berenson will accompany.
