Two players pictured as youngsters and who were curiously born on the exact same day, Mario Lemieux and Patrick Roy highlight this pair of 264-card O-Pee-Chee sets. Tilting the KSA holder that is home to Mario’s rookie card allows one to see a series of small light wrinkles (to the left of the teenager’s head) that led to KSA’s 4 VGE verdict. The rest of the 1985-86 gathering includes a well-centered Al MacInnis RC (NM+) and numerous similar specimens. We also some spot some touched corners and EX-MT representatives and surmise that the 9-pocket pages feature mostly EX-MT to NM examples, with superior cards to also come upon. The Roy rookie garnered an inviting mark of 9 MINT from KSA, while the binder that houses the other ’86-87s looks to be filled with cards that average NM-MT – sharper than their ’85-86 counterparts, the latter with a slight curvature to them. Almost-standard not-perfect centering and a few (bottom) edge nicks are to be aware of with regards to Mario’s second-year card, with Wendel Clark’s RC at NM. Like we like to say, lots of possibilities here.
