Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Battling continuously for world supremacy throughout the late-1940s/early-1950s, the New York Yankees and Brooklyn Dodgers would meet at the Fall Classic six times from 1947 to 1956, with the Bums victorious in just the 1955 World Series. Featuring the historic clubs, we have a collection that includes a 1952 World Series program and 5 ticket stubs for Games 3 to 7, a 1956 Yankees/Dodgers picture pack with original pictorial envelopes (2), a 1942 Yankees score card (vs Philadelphia) and postcards of Mickey Mantle and Roy Campanella from 1956. First, the Yankess program (Games 3, 4 and 5) is unscored, and fully intact, with just light handling wear throughout. The 1952 stubs all feature a rough-torn edge with handling wear, with the picture pack photos 5” x 7”, with 25 for the Yankees and 25 for the Dodgers.
Included for the Yankees, the picture pack has Mantle, Ford, Berra, Stengel, Larsen, Martin, Carey, Silvera, Skowron, Bauer, Dickey and others, while the Dodgers include Drysdale, Koufax, Reese, Snider, Robinson, Campanella, Newcombe and others. The majority of the photos show moderate handling which includes wear to the corners, with the Mantle and Jim Turner sporting edge tears. The envelopes have been glued together back-to-back, with heavy wear to the pair. The postcards have both been filled out and posted, with small creases along with edge and corner wear to the pair.
