Second only to Wayne Gretzky atop the NHL’s most-total-points-during-the-1980s list is Peter Stastny, with a memory-provoking image of the Quebec Nordiques’ perennial star gracing the top of this intriguing box of 1983-84 O-Pee-Chee cards. Inside are 48 (10-card) wax packs which, for some, bring back memories of the quarter-a-pack days. Those days are gone, replaced by thoughts of gem mint grading possibilities. Cards of Gretzky, Messier, Wayne with Mark on the same card and rookie cards of Lindbergh, Stevens, Carbonneau, Housley, Larmer, Nicholls and Naslund highlight the ’83-84 set’s 396-card roster. You can see from our images that (five) additional pieces of scotch tape were added, with Baseball Card Exchange certifying the packs as being unopened and sealing the piece with the firm’s shrink wrap. A 3-inch crease in “HOCKEY” on the box top, pea-size paper loss in the yellow above and a bit of light scuffing is to be aware of, with staining on the back panel and almost-standard corner and edge wear also noteworthy. With BBCE’s identifying label and certification number affixed to the underside, the box is worthy of ample contemplation.
