Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
One of the greatest offensive talents from the early days of professional hockey, Lalonde's captaincy of the Canadiens predates the formation of the National Hockey League. This framed display, which features a nicely matted photo reproduction of original Michel Lapensee artwork and a golden metal plate identifying the artwork's subject and his tenure as captain, is in excellent condition. There are a couple of scuffs on the front and corners as to be expected from hanging in one of hockey's holy temples, but it will display nicely in your home or office. On the back, the framer's logo is affixed to the paper backing, which shows minor wear and tiny holes from mounting that will not be visible when hung. The top and the bottom of the frame has grooves which originally held the frame in place when on display, and there is some rubber adhesive at the top which can potentially be removed. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Molson Center and later on at the Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
