It was quite the last hurrah for Parkhurst, with its big, still-popular 1963-64 issue featuring nifty designs and an interesting 99-card lineup. This group features a Gordie Howe card graded 6.5 ENM+ by KSA and 11 slabbed by PSA. Bob Nevin (#70) leads at NM-MT 8, with NM 7 entries of 24-Backstrom, 33-Ferguson RC and 89-Beliveau, with the other Beliveau and an elusive Alex Faulkner rookie the two missing for completion. Six EX-MT 6s are 18-Baun, 39-Worsley, 40-Maniago RC, 84-Hicke, 95-Provost and 97-Balon, with 78-Baun (VG-EX 4) concluding the encapsulated portion. Alluring crease-free raw cards include four NM-or-better commons, eight at EX-MT or EX-MT+ (9-Shack, 20-Clancy, 26-Berenson RC, 52-Ullman and 65-Bower (ST)) and 17 in the EX to EX+ range. Noteworthy in the latter pile are 23-Richard, 29-Geoffrion, 50-Delvecchio, 76-Horton, 77-Mahovlich and the two Harper RCs. Ten others are crease-free but with enough corner wear to send them to VG-EX or VG-EX+, including 1-Stanley and both Laperriere RCs, with some two dozen VG or VG+ contributors headlined by 16-Sawchuk and 53-Horton (both VG+ with wax stains on the front), as well as 17-Mahovlich, 82-Richard and 92-Ferguson RC. The rest (18) are mostly F or G, with 75-Keon (G) and 99-Maniago (G) noteworthy. Always a treat are ’63-64 Parkies!
