Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
A big batch of goodies is on the auction block here and dates back to some three dozen classic Coca-Cola cards from 1965-66. Stars and Hall of Famers are present but condition overall is off. Rogie Vachon is joined by others in three rather scarce ’67-68 York action cards (VG average), while two ’74-75 NHL action players (Loblaws) albums contribute. One is full of stamps but low grade with tape-repaired pages coming loose, while the other is partially-filled and VG. Also from the period is a five-card strip of “Quaker” WHA cards featuring J.C. Tremblay and an intriguing group of blank-backed cards picturing Montreal Canadiens from the early-‘70s, thought to have possibly been meant for an O-Pee-Chee subset that never was. International hockey is represented by an opened box of 1979 Panini stickers, with Kharlamov, Tretiak, Stastny and other stars spotted, with the bulk of the rest from the 1980s and up. Ten OPC and Panini sticker albums might provide some fun, although considerable handling/wear is to report, along with complete and incomplete books. Six baseball sticker albums from the same period (1985-1991) are similar. Half a dozen interesting ProCards minor league hockey team sets from the late-‘80s include Hasek, Richter, Vernon, Ronning, Twist, Domi and others, while rather crude, blank-backed cards feature Dale McCourt and the ’75-76 Hamilton Fincups. There are “chip” cards and cereal cards and Kraft Dinner cards and the like from the late-‘80s and early-‘90s, with ’90-91 Upper Deck prototype cards of Gretzky and Roy still in their original screwdown identified holder. Then it’s a monster box of interesting little sets from the ‘90s and up, with several In The Game issues present, with Pacific, McDonald’s, Upper Deck and other companies also grabbing our attention. Nifty All-Star Game sets, cards issued for the Toronto Expo and U.S. National Conventions, team sets, Draft Day cards, a Quebec Remparts Memorial Cup champions set, sets featuring Team Canada men’s and women’s squads, National Hockey Card Day in Canada sets, a Canada Post stamp/card set, Sidney Crosby and Jack Eichel sets, a great ’67 Maple Leafs commemorative set, a ‘90s Gillette Series set, a Zeller’s legends set – one of you is going to have an absolute blast with this stuff! Miscellaneous other cards too numerous to list are sure to provide some pleasant surprises.
