Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

How do you feel about a big hockey card grab bag that spans four decades and totals thousands of mostly not-well-organized, low-to-mid grade cards?! We know, some details and highlights will help you decide, so here goes: Over 90 Parkhurst and Topps entries from the 1950s and early-‘60s are dominated by low graders (some with tape stains, writing, etc.) but with some decent examples and a lineup that includes Plante, Sawchuk, Hall, Geoffrion, Delvecchio, Kelly, Ullman and Imlach (VG RC), with some of the most attractive components being just over 100 ’66-67 Topps cards in the mighty acceptable VG to VG-EX neighborhood. Duplication is to note, along with stars Mikita (regular and All-Star), Horton, Keon, Hall (MC), Frank Mahovlich and others, along with rookie cards of Pete Mahov.(2), Sinden (2) and Francis. Over two dozen from the previous Topps issue include low grade Henderson (tape), Cournoyer (hole), Hodge and Ellis RCs. Binders housing cards from the ‘70s include approximately (300) ’71-72 OPCs with a Poor Lafleur RC missing a corner and duplication among the rest (there are six Orr All-Star and three trophy winner cards), but again, low grade is to report. From ’72-73 and ’73-74 are binders containing some 150 cards each, while a ’74-75 OPC WHA set is markedly nicer, with a creased The Howes card joined by others that appear in the EX to EX-MT range. An unmarked checklist and a wax wrapper are also notable. An EX Mike Bossy RC is accompanied by what looks to be a near set of ’78-79 OPCs, placed back-to-back in 9-pocket pages. Similar are some 150 from ’79-80, with another 200 loose and including about half that are EX-MT-or-better. The loose ones contribute to upwards of 2000 cards in a 5000-count box, with almost a full row taken up by ’77-78 OPCs, most of them EX to NM but mostly commons with duplication. About 200 Topps examples from the same year help to complete the row, with sharp cards and a few stars in the mix. Miscellaneous roughed-up OPCs from the ‘70s comprise the rest, while completing is a thick binder with all sorts of stuff! Represented are smatterings of Sugar Daddy hockey cards, 1962 CFL cards, ’52-53 Blue Tint Junior cards (30+), various WHA cards (100+), stars/RCs/inserts from the ‘70s and ‘80s, a bit of modern material and our favorites; matchbook covers from Canadiens Armand Mondou, Toe Blake and Henri Richard (2) taverns. Cheers, we could use a drink right about now! Kidding aside, a ton of fun awaits the high bidder.
