Voted the most outstanding hockey player of the first half-century (1900-1950), hockey immortal Howie Morenz was just 21 years old when the William Paterson company issued sepia-toned cards like this, with Morenz' crowd-pleasing and crowd-attracting exploits in ensuing years propelling card #15 to "most valuable" status in the 1923-24 V145-1 set, with the exception of the famous short-printed Bert Corbeau card. Contrary to many players of the day, Morenz saw his official rookie cards available during his first season, one that ended with the speedster leading the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup, the second in franchise history. Mesmerizing in any condition is Howie's look into the camera's lens on his rookie card, with this example graded PR 1 by PSA. More attractive than multi-creased examples, this one includes paper loss and tears on the (blank) back, with scuffs visible on the front. Morenz three times was the recipient of the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player and left behind a lasting legacy.
