Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Dominating the early Brier with nine of the first fourteen championships won by Manitoba curlers, Bill McKnight was a member of the 1938 Manitoba team that claimed the provincial and Canadian championships, with the team and its members enshrined in the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame, in 2007. This lot contains a collection of four curling pins, with McKnight’s participation badge from the 1938 McDonald’s Brier accompanied by additional McDonald’s Brier Canadian Curling Championship pins for 1954, 1961 and 1973. The 1938 badge is heart-shaped at approx 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” with a 3” Scottish tartan ribbon attached, with “Bill McKnight Manitoba” handwritten on the paper insert. A small sticker with “1938” has been affixed to the reverse, with just light wear to the pin. The additional McDonald’s Brier Canadian Curling Championship pins are all 1 ½” x 1 ½” or slightly smaller, with each sporting just minimal wear (there is some minor age toning to the 1954 pin).
