Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
On January 12, 1985, the Montreal Forum rose to its feet to welcome members of the franchise’s all-time team in commemoration of the club’s 75th anniversary. Depicted on this display piece are some of the greatest legends in hockey history as Maurice Richard and Jacques Plante surround their former coach, Toe Blake, who is holding the Stanley Cup. There are a few scuffs and marks on the front and edges of the display along with some wrinkling and missing paper at the bottom corners as to be expected from hanging in one of hockey's holy temples, but it will display nicely in your home or office. Some of the lamination does show signs of wear, but the photo remains intact. The framing on the back has some holes where screws were previously. However, this will in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Montreal Forum and possibly later on at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
