Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club's comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
The city of Montreal and Canadiens fans everywhere had their collective eyes on the 1993 Stanley Cup Final as the Habs fought hard for the right to hoist Lord Stanley’s Mug. Depicted here is on-ice action from that series at the Montreal Forum and the iconic Wayne Gretzky makes an appearance hanging on to Kirk Muller. If you look carefully, the expression on the face of one of the fans in attendance shows surprise as the two battled along the glass. There are a few scuffs and marks on the front and the corners and edges of the frame as to be expected from hanging in one of hockey's holy temples, but it will display nicely in your home or office. Some of the lamination does show signs of wear, but the photo remains intact. However, this will in no way take away from your enjoyment of this unique piece. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens, this framed display was likely displayed at the Montreal Forum and possibly later on at the Molson Centre/Bell Centre. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
