Backstopping the Americans to the gold medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships, Jack Campbell was drafted by Dallas and made his NHL debut with a single game for the Stars in 2013-14. Parts of four seasons would then be spent in Tinseltown with the Kings before being dealt to Toronto early in 2020. Acquired directly from the Maple Leafs, this photo-matched blocker and glove combo were used by the Michigan native during the first half of the 2019-20 NHL season. Vaughn Velocity models in Kings black, white and silver, identifiers have been embroidered and screened to each including “Campbell”, with heavy use exhibited on the pair, with numerous dark marks present throughout. Images show Campbell wearing the pair together as well as individually at times, with this confirmed with the photo-matches. First, for the blocker, Getty Image #1203607070 (Jan 30, 2020 vs Arizona) has been matched to a series of marks visible on the face, including a distinct slightly “curling” dark mark at the top of the blocker, directly to the right of the silver padded section. For the glove, Getty Image #1194508680 (Dec 15, 2019 vs Detroit) has been matched to a number of dark marks visible including a lone dark mark on the exterior pocket over the silver material, with the size, irregular shape and placement all perfectly matching. Lastly, for the pair photo-matched together, Getty Image #1195086155 (Dec 19, 2020 vs Columbus) has been matched to a series of marks visible within the pocket and over the wrist padding of the glove including three distinct marks including their size, shape and placement, while a series of distinct marks on the inside edge of the blocker perfectly match as well. As an added bonus, a second matching Vaughn glove is also included along with a well used neck guard, with the trapper marked “practice”, with “Campbell” embroidered and heavy use exhibited. We should further note that Kay Whitmore has initialed all three items as acting goaltending supervisor for the NHL. An LOA from the Toronto Maple Leafs will accompany, and it states that the items were worn by Campbell with Los Angeles during the 2019-20 season before being dealt to Toronto.
