Leading our consignor's outstanding unopened wax pack collection chronologically and in the wow factor is this spellbinding Parkhurst pack that miraculously stayed intact for decades before being encapsulated by Global Authentication Incorporated, the firm assessing its condition at NM-MT+ 8.5. For the third straight year Canadiens and Maple Leafs players were featured on Parkhurst trading cards, with the 1958-59 issue seeing the first use of the Zip Gum trademark instead of the Parkies name. Dickie Moore won his second straight scoring title the year that kids opened packs like this, with Montreal and Toronto at season's end battling in the Stanley Cup final and the Habs setting a record with their fourth consecutive Cup title. The Richard brothers, Plante, Beliveau, Harvey, Geoffrion, Bower, Horton and Mahovlich star in the '58-59 Parkie set. A piece of gum and (we believe) four cards is what is inside the wrapper here, with the back of a Phil Goyette card decipherable on the bottom of the pack that cost a nickel back in the day. A pretty penny is what it'll soon go for, with special bragging rights also to be acquired by the high bidder. Good luck with this exceptional and mesmerizing piece of hockey card history.
We do not spot any unsightly flaws in the GAI holder; some barely-detectable and definitely non-detracting subtle light scratches are observed only upon very close inspection and are mentioned only for accuracy.
