Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

A trio of (264-card) O-Pee-Chee sets is on the auction block here, with two legendary figures of the modern era who were born on the same day headlining them! Yes, both Mario Lemieux and Patrick Roy started their “life” careers on October 5th, 1965 – cool. Patrick’s 1986-87 rookie card is NM and betters that of Mario, the latter affected by corner dings, a small light crease near the upper edge and specs of color loss on the front, rendering it shy of VG in our book. An Al MacInnis RC is EX-MT (OC), with intermittent corner wear observed while flipping through the binders which house the ’85-86 and ’86-87 sets. The rookie card-laden ’87-88 set is nicer and quite sharp, with however the odd less-than-NM card spotted here and there. Luc Robitaille is joined in the ’87-88 RC lineup by Oates, Hextall, Tocchet, Ranford, Vernon, Lemieux, Damphousse, Tikkanen, McSorley, Richer and still more. John Vanbiesbrouck (VG-EX) and Wendel Clark (EX) rookies join Roy in the ’86-87 ensemble but have corner wear, with Mario’s off-centered second year card but VG with corner wear. Tossed onto the pile is a binder of ’91-92 OPC cards, with all 528 cards present.
