Joining the Erie Otters after being granted "Exceptional Player" status by Hockey Canada, with this allowing the young superstar to enter the major junior fray a year early, Connor McDavid shined throughout his three OHL seasons, registering 285 points. From his final season with Erie that featured scoring 120 points in 47 games, McDavid would lead the Otters to the OHL Western Conference Finals in 2014-15, with the offered signed captain’s jersey photo-matched to his four-assist showing in Game 4, on April 28, 2015, won by Erie 7-5 (according to the accompanying Otters LOA). A CCM/CHL label is affixed to the collar along with a second label with “54” sizing, with a CHL crest on the reverse hem. Styled with a multi-coloured team crest with embroidered detailing, “97” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “McDavid” across the attached nameplate in matching material. "4/28/15 v.SSM” is also handwritten to the fight strap. McDavid has signed the reverse “7” in black marker, with no issues for the signature.
As mentioned, McDavid scored four assists in the game including a great saucer pass to Debrincat. The Otters would also win the series, advancing to the OHL finals. Worn for just this single contest, the jersey exhibits light expected game-use, with a single dark mark visible on the left elbow. An included photo from a post-game interview has been matched to the white loose thread visible on the upper left border of the team crest. McDavid would capture the Red Tilson (Most Outstanding Player) and Bobby Smith Trophies (Scholastic Player) in 2014-15.
