Recording his 1,000th career point in December of 1999, Joe Sakic became the 11th player in history to register 1,500 points, reaching the plateau on October 25, 2006. From the late-1990s, circa 1998-99, we have a pair of gloves worn by the superstar. Easton Pro 4400 models in solid black, “19” is handwritten over the wrist guard on each. Great game-use is exhibited, with wear to the identifiers on both gloves along with a few small holes to the palm on the right glove, with heavier rubbing to the leather on the left glove. We should also note a sticky substance is on sections of each glove, with this not originating from game-use. Sakic would net 96 points in 73 regular-season games in 1998-99, and add a-goal-a-game throughout the Avalanche’s 19 playoff contests.
Getty Image #396076 (Nov 19, 1998) shows proper placement/size of the handwritten "19" on the cuff of the left glove, and while Getty Image #53132416 shows proper placement/size of the handwritten "19" on each glove, none of the images are high resolution enough to call a definitive photo-match.
