Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021

Two of the three big “players” card company-wise of the 1980s, Donruss and Fleer, dominate this humungous offering, housed in 5000-count monster boxes - a lot of people opened a lot of cards back in the day! The Fleer representatives feature the most appeal, with a near set from 1982 starring an EX Cal Ripken Jr. rookie card and a crease in the bottom border sending another to VG among a stack of duplicates. There are smaller Fleer groups from ’84 (200) and ’85 (100), with more plentiful entries from ’86 (400) and ’87 (450), with totals approximate and the latter batch highlighted by an EX-MT Barry Bonds rookie. Loads of ‘88s (1800+) are joined by a near ’89 set plus dupes totaling 1100, with Ken Griffey Jr. and Randy Johnson RCs contributing. A little different for some may be the 1990 Fleer Canadian contingent of over 500, with stars included from all companies. ....Meanwhile, after 500+ from 1982, Donruss cards are less inspiring, with less key cards observed, along with duplication; rough estimates are 1987: 400, ‘88: 1600+, ’89: 1300, ’90: 2400+ and ’91: 800 (appears to be a complete set). ...Completing is a big box of Score cards from 1988 to ’91, with some 3500 to sift through. Donruss Diamond Kings, Fleer All-Stars and Stickers and Score “Rising Star” and “Superstar” cards will also be discovered during your “project”!
