Debuting with the Chicago "Orphans" in 1898 was California native Frank Chance, signed by Chicago as a catcher and an outfielder. He reportedly first balked at moving to first base (1903) but became part of Chicago's famous Tinkers to Evers to Chance double play combo. By the time this little card was issued on a box-top of the Jay S. Meyer Company, confectioners from Philadelphia, the Cubs were the class of the National League, with Chance also managing the team. The hand-cut relic is head of the class at PSA; it's a Pop 1, easily outdistancing three VG-EX 4s and a GOOD 2 on the Chance "line" of the PSA Population Report. Rare blank-backed antiquity will provide you with mucho satisfaction, along with bragging rights surely not soon relinquished!
