Transitioning to Colorado from Quebec while packed with youthful talent that included Peter Forsberg, Joe Sakic, Valeri Kamensky, Claude Lemieux and others, the Colorado Avalanche were further augmented with the addition of superstar netminder Patrick Roy mid-way through the first season. The Aves have captured nine Division championships, with Lord Stanley’s hardware hoisted twice. This lot offers a great collection of Aves game-used sticks totaling 10, with the majority signed. Examples are present for Joe Sakic, Ray Bourque, Theoren Fleury, Rob Blake, Sandis Ozolinch, Adam Foote, Chris Drury, Chris Simson, Martin Skoula and Steven Reinprecht. The breakdown for each stick is as follows; Joe Sakic – late-1990s Easton model with original black tape on the handle and blade, with light game-use exhibited. Sakic has signed the blade in silver; Ray Bourque – early-2000s Sher-Wood PMPX9950 model with “Bourque 77” factory graphics and the original tape on the blade and shaved handle. Light game-use is exhibited, with Bourque signing the blade in silver; Theoren Fleury 1998-99 Nike model with original tape and “14” handwritten on the handle, with heavier game-use shown. Fleury signed the blade in silver, and it’s a bit light; Rob Blake early-2000s Bauer Supreme model with “R Blake” stamped and the original tape on the blade and handle. Just light game-use is exhibited, with Blake signing the heel section in black marker; Sandis Ozolinsh late-1990s KOHO model, his name is stamped but faint, with the original tape on the blade and handle. Nice game-use is shown with Skoula signing the blade in silver; Steven Reinprecht 2000-01 Jofa ASD model with “S Reinprecht” stamped, with the original tape on the handle with the blade tape removed. A date stamp resides on the underside, with light game-use exhibited.
