Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The most highly collected set of the modern era due to the inclusion of the most desirable modern hockey card, the 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee release is complete at 396 cards, with the individual packs containing 14 cards raised to 20 cents beginning this season. The set would also feature cards for the four new NHL cities Winnipeg, Quebec, Edmonton and Hartford. Offered in its purest form, we have a framed uncut 132-card sheet that includes the one and only Wayne Gretzky. At approx 28” x 42”, 12 rows of 11 cards-per-row make up the sheet, with Gretzky the eighth card in the second row (from left to right, top to bottom), with the sheet double-matted and framed to approx 36 ½” x 51” (both sides have glass, with the reverse of the cards viewable). While numerous Wayne Gretzky rookie cards exist, how many uncut sheets are left??
The sheet also includes desirable cards of Gordie Howe and Bobby Hull, along with 18 of the 21 team cards. There is just light creasing present in spots over both the front and reverse, with a few creases visible that go across the Gretzky card (front and reverse).
