Produced to promote the sales of the company’s noteworthy peanut butter, York issued three sets of tumblers throughout the 1960s, with the first offering of 21 featuring Canadiens and Leafs players issued in conjunction with the start of the 1961 Stanley Cup playoffs. This collection includes nine tumblers from the 1960-61 set, with each issued in the first series (issued in two series, the first have an “F” imprinted within the bottom of each tumbler, while the second series feature an imprinted “D”). At 4 ¾” in height, Leafs examples are present for Stanley, Mahovlich, Bower, Pulford and Bert Olmstead, while Habs tumblers include Plante, Johnson, the Pocket Rocket and Albert Langlois. In stunning high-grade across the board, each example remains uncracked/unchipped, with the Richard and Mahovlich both sporting a small minor scratch.
