A Vezina Trophy finalist in both 1989 and 1992, Kirk McLean guarded the crease of the Vancouver Canucks for the majority of his career, with NHL All-Star Game appearances made in 1990 and 1992. This stick was used by the Willowdale native during his rookie season of 1987-88, and it’s been team-signed by the Vancouver Canucks. A Louisville model with “McLean” stamped over the upper shaft and “1” handwritten, the stick retains the original white tape over the blade, handle and knob, with one side of the shaft covered in matching tape to facilitate the 17 dark ink signatures. There is also a date stamp on the underside of the shaft of “Jan 18 1988“. "Vancouver 1987-88” has been handwritten across the blade, with the signers to include McLean, along with Pederson, Smyl, Skriko, LeBlanc, Coxe, Richter, Lowry and others. The stick itself shows great game-use, with tears to the blade tape and cracking at the heel. There is also wear to the underside of the blade, with a few large chips to the paddle. We should also note that the tape over the handle and blade is loose.
