Signed by the WHA’s Houston Aeros in 1972-73 after short NHL stints with both Detroit and Philadelphia, netminder Don “Smokey” McLeod saw action throughout most of the league’s existence with five different clubs. The Trail native was also the recipient of the Ben Hatskin Trophy as the WHA's top goalie in 1973-74, the season this offered Aeros jersey was worn. Sporting Rawlings labeling with a “50” size swatch, there is no other tagging visible. Featuring “Aeros” placed diagonally across the chest in stylized individual white twill letters, “1” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with a single affixed star over each shoulder. The nameplate currently on the garment was purchased from an ex-Aeros trainer years after the original owner acquired the jersey (from a different source), and then had it affixed, with it appearing period correct. A modern 11” x 14” black and white print of McLeod in action with the Aeros will accompany.
Showing just light use with no unattractive marks or wear, there is some pilling to interior spots to note.
