Signing a two-year deal to serve as playing coach with the Ecureuils from the northern French town of Epinal in the France’s National League in the late-1980s, Bob Gainey was an instant celebrity in the small industrial community approx 300 km east of Paris. This Epinal Ecureuils jersey was worn by Gainey and hails from his personal collection. A Hattem labekl is affixed to the collar, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 52. Featuring felt-style identifiers throughout including the team crest and sponsorship logo, Gainey’s famous #23 resdies overt he verso, with no sleeve numbers. The jersey exhibits heavy wear with numerous burns, pulls and marks over the front and sleeves, with holes over and near each elbow section along with some dark staining over the lower front. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this rarely-seen style jersey.
Also included is Gainey's Epinal Ecureuils baseball cap. The green and white baseball cap features the team's logo on the front panel and has a fold in the visor of the cap which also exhibits some wear/stains.
