Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

The most important and valuable of all "Ice Kings" in World Wide Gum's 1933-34 card set, Canadiens' iconic star Howie Morenz, along with an English-only Hap Day card highlight this little group, with most of the rest being rookie cards. The Morenz is a decent low grade example (F) in our eyes, with a light side-to-side crease and a less-obvious top-to-bottom crease, while the Day (G) is similar to the others; in the G to G+ range, (with a couple making it to VG). Scarcity (Day) is confirmed by PSA numbers; only five such cards have ever been submitted to the grading firm, compared to 63 Day cards with bilingual text on the back. A John Ross Roach card (#67) is G and is joined by RCs of 5-Earl Robinson, 6-Paul Haynes, 18-Marcel Raymond, 28-Wildor Larochelle, 46-Pit Lepine, 51-Vernon Ayers, 52-Lorne Duguid, 56-Duke Dutkowski and 58-Charlie Sands. A throw-in is a real low grade 17-Armand Mondou RC with creases, paper loss and back damage.
