Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Keeping busy during the NHL lockout of 2004-05, Martin Gerber would play 20 games in the NLA with SC Langnau, followed by 30 games late in the season with the SEL’s Färjestad BK. The Swiss netminder would then return to the NHL to tend goal for his new club in 2005-06, the Carolina Hurricanes. This mask was worn by Gerber during his stint with Färjestad BK, and it was originally acquired from the Hurricanes head equipment manager, Wally Tatomir. An Itech model with wonderful polychrome graphics including a Färjestad BK logo over the forehead and “26” over the chin section, “Gerber” appears airbrushed over the lower section of the back plate, with the interior padding intact. A production date sticker is affixed to the interior behind the chin (02/22/2005), with a second sticker from Jerry Wright along the interior top. An LOA is included.
In gorgeous condition with just light wear exhibited, there is a streak over the forehead, with a bit of wear along the mask’s edges. There is also some rusting to the screws attaching the cage.
