Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The brainchild of Wayne Gretzky and friends, the Ninety Nine All Stars Tour was created to promote hockey around the globe as well as raise money for charity during the 1994-95 NHL lockout. Matches were contested against both professional and all-star clubs, with 8 total games played in 5 different countries. This Ninety-Nine Tour jersey has been team-signed by 20 players who took part in the tour. Maska labeling along with a “54” size tag grace the collar, with “Ninety-Nine” embroidered in script over the chest. The reverse feature’s two large and arching nameplates, with “Gretzky and Friends” above, and “European Tour” below. The signatures have all been placed over the front in matching black marker (now faded to a dark grey) including Gretzky, along with Mark Messier, Brett Hull, Steve Yzerman, Paul Coffey and others.
The remaining signers include Grant Fuhr, Kirk Muller, Sergei Fedorov, Rob Blake, Steve Larmer, Doug Wilson (coach), Pat Conacher, Tony Granato, Kelly Hrudey, Marty McSorley, Charlie Huddy, Russ Courtnall, Al MacInnis and a few others. As mentioned, the signatures have slightly faded to a dark grey colour, with just light wear to the jersey itself including a few faint stains over the upper and lower reverse.
