Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

A gifted playmaker and nine-time NHL All-Star, Gilbert Perreault spent his entire Hall of Fame career with Buffalo, with the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy won in 1973. Perreault would post especially strong numbers in 1979-80, scoring 106 points including 40 goals, with an additional 14 points scored in the postseason. This style of Sabres jersey was worn for the last part of the 1979-80 season and into the playoffs (without the Olympic patch as shown on Getty Image #926809962 from the semifinals, on May 1, 1980), and was most likely recycled by the Sabres for the 1980-81 season. A Maska Superfil label is affixed to the collar along with an additional Maska logo embroidered over the reverse hem, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 27. Sporting an attractive layered team crest with chain-stitched detailing, Perreault’s retired “11” graces the reverse and each sleeve in gold-over-white tackle twill, with alternate patches over each shoulder.
Showing thorough game use with heavy wear to the material over the front and sleeves, there are scuffs and fabrics pulls throughout, with numerous team repairs, including examples over the front (22), reverse (3), right sleeve (1) and left sleeve (2 - 3” repairs).
