Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Surpassing the legendary Terry Sawchuk and placing himself among the immortals at second spot for all-time career wins by a goaltender, Hall of Fame member Ed Belfour accomplished the feat in 2005-06, recording his 448th win, on Dec 19, 2005. This trapper and right pad were both worn by the superstar while recording his milestone, and both are photo-matched. Both CCM Gatekeeper models in Leafs colours, each has “Belfour” embroidered on, with an NHL shield crest added to the glove. Both items exhibit nice game use, with dark marks over the pocket and wrist guard of the glove, along with additional dark marks covering the front and outer side of the pad. Belfour currently sits in the fourth spot for all-time career wins, with just Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy and Roberto Luongo placed higher. A signed LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, Getty Image #56627190 (Dec 19, 2005) has been matched to numerous marks on both the pad and glove.
