Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
A time capsule propelling any fan right back to the excitement of the Summit Series in 1972, we have a large group of contemporary fan correspondence that was all originally sent to tournament star Paul Henderson. Totaling approx 170 and either wishing Paul and the boys luck during the tournament or congratulating the hero and Team Canada after the conclusion, there are approx 30 Team Canada postcards, 9 greeting cards, 41 telegrams (5 were sent within Canada, the other 36 to Russia) and 90 letters. Highlights include letters from the publisher of the Toronto Sun and Goderich, Ontario mayor Harry Worsell, along with a telegram sent from “The girls at the switchboard Maple Leaf Gardens”, and much more! A signed LOA from Paul Henderson will accompany.
The majority of the correspondence remains in very good condition, with the odd letter or telegram showing moderate to heavier wear.
