Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
The three most valuable cards in Topps’ 1958-59 set have been encapsulated here, with none more important than Bobby Hull’s coveted rookie card, slabbed “4 VGE” by KSA. An almost side-to-side diagonal “back” crease in first detected in the yellow background just above and parallel to Bobby’s left shoulder. A few small wax stains are also notable. A Gordie Howe card (6 ENM) with a centering issue and an 8 NMM Eddie Shack RC are also in KSA holders. Somewhat bewildering are the raw rest, 54 of them with either wax stains (16) or “speckled” surface issues/flaws. They’re otherwise (mostly) EX, EX+ and EX-MT, with a few displaying higher. Sawchuk (ink transfer – front, paper loss – reverse), two commons and #1-Armstrong are notable exceptions.
We do not see any notable scratches/flaws in the KSA holders themselves.
