Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

Forging a partnership that lasted for decades which included eighteen seasons as a player, Jean Beliveau remained a fixture with the Montreal Canadiens well after his playing days, serving as an executive in 1977-78. Finishing first overall and led by Guy Lafleur’s 132 points, the Montreal Canadiens would face an aggressive Boston Bruins club in the 1977-78 final, with the Habs taking the hard-fought six-game series to claim their third of four consecutive championships. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with brown felt underside and affixed “Boffey” sticker, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved beneath the Canadiens executives (Jean is listed as “V.P. & Dir.C.R.”), with “Club de Hockey Canadien” and “1977-78” engraved above. Produced in the late-1990s/early-2000s by Boffey at Jean’s request to be presented to a family member, an LOA from the Beliveau family will accompany.
The trophy displays beautifully, void of any dents/dings, and we should note it was lightly cleaned to remove a thin surface layer of dust and oxidation, with remnants still visible within small areas and along some edges.
