A businessman, philanthropist and hockey enthusiast, Sir Montagu Allan donated the trophy that bears his name in 1908 to represent the highest level of achievement for Canadian amateur hockey teams once the Stanley Cup became restricted to professional clubs. Allan was enshrined in the HOF in 1945, passing just six short years later. We have a trio of signed stock certificates, with each example featuring shares from the Acadia Coal Company Ltd, with all three certificates dated 1910. At roughly 7 ¾” x 10 ¾” and with all three certificates identical in style, Allan has added attractive fountain pen signatures to each, with additional stampings, mailing stamps and signatures over each reverse, along with 1919 cancellation stamps over each obverse. With just light fading to the signatures, the documents survive in beautiful condition, with punch holes present along with minor handling wear.
